The UH-1M "Huey" helicopter was the first major project added after the "Living Memorial", to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial, on May 18, 1991. This gunship (# 632) served three tours of duty and received six bullet holes (repaired) while in Vietnam. It stands guard on a 23 foot high steel pedestal above the memorial site. The project statement on the hill below the nose of the ship tells the story of the roles and significance of this masterful aircraft in the Vietnam war.
